As reported on October 14, 2013, by local media outlets, "A fire that caused an estimated $1 million worth of damages at a Northeast Richland shopping center was intentionally set.  The fire started inside a self-storage business, located in the center of the complex, according to the Richland County Fire Marshal's Office.  (jmonk@thestate.com)  The arson case has been turned over to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.  Approximately ten businesses were damaged.  [http://www.thestate.com/2013/10/14/3038191/columbia-blaze-does-1-million.html)

The Foundation has had a climate controlled storage unit at the reported location for several years for the purpose of storing apparel inventory and supplies.  The final assessment of damage has not been determined.   Notification of business operations will be announced as soon as possible.
